Mr. Ian K. Fauth,
5th Degree Superfoot System

Over the last 20 years, Mr. Ian K. Fauth has taught Tae Kwon-Do both in Australia and the United States. While still living in Australia he taught Tae Kwon-Do classes at various high schools, church halls, fitness centers and gymnasiums in Brisbane and Bundaberg. He also taught Tae Kwon-Do classes at Queensland University in Brisbane. During that time, he developed his own unique method of teaching which could best be described as Australasian style: a style that combines the traditional with more modern scientific training methods. His martial arts training started with Judo in 1971 under Phil Brain, 5th Dan, while attending Brisbane State High School. In 1974, he was accepted into the Queensland Police Academy where he continued to train in judo and also started his training in karate, under Sensei Graham Keleher, 7th Dan in Seido Kan. Mr. Fauth started training in Tae Kwon-Do and continued to train for the 11 years he served in the Queensland Police Force and SWAT unit. He attained the rank of 1st Dan while studying with Graham Johnson, 5th Dan, at the Australian Tae Kwon-Do Institute. He attained the rank of 2nd and 3rd Dan from North East Australia Tae kwon-Do under Shihan Grant Dobinson, 4th Dan in the Sang Dan style. In November, 2000, he had the privilege of being tested for his 4th Dan black belt by Mr. Bill "Superfoot" Wallace and Mr. Skipper Mullins. In Australia, Mr. Fauth actively competed in tournaments including judo, kickboxing, karate, mixed martial arts and Tae Kwon-Do with his earliest judo competitions starting in the early 1970's. Since moving to the states he has also competed at tournaments in Salt Lake City, Chicago and tournaments throughout Texas. The high point of his martial arts career came in 1996 when he represented Australia at the World Karate Organization World Titles in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada after qualifying in the Executive Division of the Australian Titles in November, 1995. After taking a brief hiatus from teaching and moving to the United States in 1996, Mr. Fauth resumed teaching Tae Kwon-Do at Don Johnson's Martial Arts America located in Chesterton, IN in 1998 and 1999. Since re-locating to Austin, Mr. Fauth has taught at the East Communities YMCA where he launched the center's first Tae Kwon-Do program in May, 2000, offering classes for children and adults. He also started a similar program at the North Park YMCA in 2001. With the opening of The 4th Degree Martial Arts in December 2001, Mr. Fauth continues to promote the many benefits of martial arts training for children, teens and adults while helping to develop a strong sense of community within the martial arts industry During February 2004, Mr. Fauth tested and received his 5th degree black belt in the Superfoot System from Mr. Bill Wallace in Florida. On July 30, 2004, he was inducted into the United States Martial Arts Hall of Fame in Nashville, TN as Outstanding Instructor. He most recently has also been selected for inclusion in Who's Who in the Martial Arts. Mr. Fauth's teaching schedule also includes teaching PowerFit classes for a local fitness club where he incorporates martial arts techniques in a cardio circuit system.
